Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

There is nothing like a classic chocolate chip cookie. This recipe comes straight from my family's recipe box. Yes, a recipe box. Like all of the recipes are written on index cards and shoved into a tiny box that is then put into the pantry. You only look at this box when you are really craving a meal that your Grandma used to make. Now that the weather is getting colder, it is IMPORTANT that everyone has those homemade cookies on stand by. Here's a little plug, though, for the delicious chocolate chip cookies that I KNOW you will be craving very soon ;)

PRO TIPS
For me personally, I choose to not add a TON of chocolate chips. I love the taste of the actual cookie with a hint of chocolate. I prefer to add 3/4 cup of chocolate chips compared to a full cup that others prefer. I also like to use an ice cream scoop for perfectly sized balls every time. I also think that only softening the butter, compared to completely melting it in the microwave, makes cookies a bit more chewy and soft. Remember: do not overbake the cookies and take them out when they still look a little gooey so that when they cool, they are so so so soft and delicious. I hope you all LOVE these classic cookies!

Ingredients

  • 8 tbs. unsalted butter

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 1 lg.  egg

  • 1 ½ cup flour

  • ½ tsp. Baking soda

  • ¼ tsp. salt

  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Microwave butter to soften

  2.  Beat the butter with white and brown sugars until creamy; add vanilla and egg until fully mixed

  3.  Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined; should form a dough like consistency

  4.  Fold in the chocolate chips

  5.  Roll the dough into balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes.

  6. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Let cookies cool for 15 minutes.

Hint: The cookies should look puffy and golden brown around the edges.
